STORY

The 2500 Suburban was the heavy-duty version of the full-size wagon. In the GMT800 years of 2001 to 2004 its top engine was the 8.1-liter V8, listed at about 340 hp and 455 lb-ft with a four-speed automatic and a gross weight rating of 8,598 lb. For 2008 the 2500 kept an iron-block 6.0-liter V8 rated at 352 hp and 383 lb-ft, without the cylinder deactivation of the half-ton engines, and gained a six-speed automatic, with a tow rating of up to 9,700 lb when properly equipped.
