STORY

The first TrailBlazer ran from 2002 to 2009 on the GMT360 platform, shared with the GMC Envoy, Buick Rainier and Isuzu Ascender, among others, and most had the Vortec 4200 inline-six, at first 270 hp, later 275 hp and from 2006 291 hp. For 2006 the SS put a Corvette-derived 6.0-liter V8 rated at 395 hp and 400 lb-ft into it, about 26,000 sold over three model years. The name came back for 2021 on a subcompact crossover with a 137 hp 1.2-liter or 155 hp 1.3-liter turbo three-cylinder, sized between the Trax and Equinox.
