STORY
The 300 name goes back to the 1955 C-300 and the letter-series cars of the late 1950s and early 1960s, which were among the first high-performance American luxury cars. Chrysler revived the name in 2005 for a rear-wheel-drive full-size sedan on the LX platform, which shared Mercedes-derived components. The SRT8 versions used larger HEMI V8s, first a 6.1-liter and later a 6.4-liter. A restyled second generation launched for 2011 and, with periodic updates, carried the 300 through to 2023 as one of the last traditional American V8 sedans.
