STORY

The SM was a high-performance grand tourer launched in 1970. It combined Citroën's hydropneumatic suspension and DIRAVI power steering with a Maserati-built V6 engine, after Citroën took over the Italian marque. It could exceed 220 km/h, won the 1972 Motor Trend Car of the Year and had aerodynamic covered headlamps and a fastback body. The 1973 oil crisis and Citroën's financial troubles ended production in 1975, after about 12,900 cars.
