STORY

The ZX was a compact family car launched in 1991 to fill the gap left by the GSA in the segment. Its platform later underpinned the Peugeot 306, and it was praised for its sharp, balanced handling despite conventional suspension. It came as a hatchback and estate with a passive rear-steer effect, and sold strongly across Europe. It also lent its name to the ZX Rallye Raid, which dominated the Paris-Dakar. The Xsara replaced the road car in 1997.
