STORY

The Copen is Daihatsu's two-seat kei roadster, launched in 2002 with a powered retractable hardtop that folds into the small boot. It is built within the strict 660cc kei rules and pairs a turbocharged three-cylinder engine with a lightweight body. It has a cult following well beyond Japan. The second-generation LA400K introduced a modular "Dress-Formation" system of swappable body panels that lets owners change the car's look.
