420 Sovereign 4.2

STORY

The Sovereign name was used on the Daimler version of the Jaguar 420 from 1966. It then moved to the Daimler editions of the XJ Series 1 (1969-1973), Series 2 (1973-1979) and Series 3 (1979-1983).

The 420-based car had a 4.2-litre six-cylinder engine with 245 PS. The first XJ-based Sovereigns were offered with a 2.8-litre six-cylinder engine with 140 PS or a 4.2-litre six-cylinder engine. All were four-door sedans.
