STORY

The D9 is the model that relaunched Denza after BYD took majority control of the former BYD-Daimler joint venture. It was unveiled in 2022 and delivered from that autumn. The large MPV comes as a DM-i plug-in hybrid and as a pure-electric EV, with a lounge-style second row aimed at Chinese business and family buyers. It sold extremely well, often leading China's premium MPV sales charts ahead of the Toyota Alphard, and it made Denza BYD's premium brand.
