The Dodge 600 started in 1983 as a four-door sedan on the E platform. For 1984 it also took over the coupe and convertible from the Dodge 400, which were built on the smaller K platform, so the one name covered two different cars. A turbocharged 2.2 liter four, rated at 142 hp in most listings (one 1984 car was advertised at 140), arrived midway through 1984 with the ES Turbo convertible. All 600 convertibles were dropped after the 1986 model year.
The Dodge 600 was a K-car derivative sold from 1983 through 1988 as a sedan, coupe and convertible. The coupe and convertible came over from the Dodge 400 for 1984. It targeted buyers who wanted a more upscale car, with turbocharged four-cylinder power available. The convertible helped bring back factory drop-tops in the 1980s.
