STORY

The Dodge Aries and its twin, the Plymouth Reliant, were the first Chrysler K-cars and went on sale for the 1981 model year. Motor Trend named the pair its 1981 Car of the Year. They replaced the rear-drive Aspen and Volare in the lineup, and the last K-car was built on December 9, 1988, so the 1989 models that ended the Aries name were carryovers. Coupe, sedan and wagon bodies were offered, the wagon only through 1988.
