STORY

The Dodge Challenger debuted for 1970 as an E-body pony car with engines from economy sixes to the 426 Hemi, but the original ended in 1974. The name returned for 1978 on a very different car, a rebadged Mitsubishi coupe known in Japan as the Galant Lambda, with 1.6 and 2.6-litre four-cylinder engines. That Mitsubishi-based Challenger ran through 1983, with a few leftovers sold as 1984 models. Dodge revived the name in 2008 on the LC/LX platform with retro styling. It ran through 2023, topping out with the supercharged Hellcat V8 and the 1,025-hp Demon 170 version.
