Dodge sold Mitsubishi-built cars as the Colt from the 1971 model year, and the first ones were rear-drive Galant-based coupes, sedans and wagons. For 1979 the car switched to the front-drive Mitsubishi Mirage, launching with a 1.4-litre four rated at 70 hp. The older Galant Sigma-based wagon stayed on sale alongside it until 1981. In 1984 the sporty GTS arrived with a turbocharged 1.6-litre four rated at 102 hp, available only as a three-door hatchback. The earlier rear-drive Colt of 1971 to 1981 has its own entry in the catalog.
The Dodge Colt was a subcompact sold from 1971 into the 1990s, built by Mitsubishi and rebadged for Dodge. It gave the brand a fuel-efficient small car during the era of rising gas prices. Body styles ranged from coupes and sedans to hatchbacks and wagons.
