The Conquest was the name Chrysler gave to the Mitsubishi Starion, a rear-drive turbo hatchback built in Japan and sold in North America as a captive import. Dodge and Plymouth dealers carried it from the 1984 model year, and from 1987 it was sold only as a Chrysler. The first cars used the turbocharged 2.6-litre four, rated at 145 hp, and a widebody version followed for 1986, whose intercooled TSi was rated at 176 hp for 1987. The Conquest left the market after the 1989 model year.
The Dodge Conquest was a rear-wheel-drive turbocharged sports coupe sold in the mid-1980s, a rebadged Mitsubishi Starion. It had pop-up headlights, a turbo four-cylinder engine and real performance for its time. It was also sold under Chrysler and Plymouth badges.
