D350 5.9 Cummins Turbodiesel

STORY

Dodge redesigned its D-series pickups for 1972, and the third-generation truck carried that design forward. The Li'l Red Express of 1978 and 1979 carried a modified 360 cu in V8 rated at 225 hp. A 105 hp Mitsubishi diesel six was listed around the turn of the 1980s. The Ram name appeared for 1981, and in 1989 a 5.9-litre Cummins turbo diesel rated at 160 hp and 400 lb-ft joined the options, with far more torque than the 169 lb-ft of the earlier Mitsubishi six.
