The St. Regis was Dodge's full-size sedan for the 1979 through 1981 model years, built on Chrysler's rear-drive R-body. Police work was a main market. For 1980 the 318 four-barrel was rated at 120 hp and 245 lb-ft, while the 360 four-barrel, at 185 hp and 275 lb-ft, was the only Mopar police performance engine that year, and the Slant-6 was not offered because the car was too heavy for it. A 1979 Michigan State Police test of a 360 car recorded 0-60 mph in 11.5 seconds and a top speed over 120 mph.
The Dodge St. Regis was a full-size rear-wheel-drive sedan built from 1979 to 1981 on the R-body platform. It was used as a police car during the downsizing era. Clear retractable headlight covers gave it a distinctive front end.
