California 30

F149 · 2012–2014RWD

The California 30 was a 2012 revision of Ferrari's front-engined, retractable-hardtop grand tourer, named for the two figures that defined it: a body roughly 30 kg lighter and a 4.3-litre V8 lifted by about 30 hp to 490 hp. Ferrari also offered a Handling Speciale package with stiffer springs and revised magnetorheological dampers. It remained the entry point to the range until the turbocharged California T arrived.

STORY

The California debuted in 2008 as Ferrari's first model with a front-mounted V8, a folding metal hardtop and a dual-clutch gearbox. Aimed at a broader, everyday-usable market, it used a 4.3-litre V8 and offered 2+2 seating. It reintroduced the historic California name last used on the 1950s 250 GT California Spyder.
