California T Handling Speciale

F149 · 2016–2017RWD

Introduced in 2016, the Handling Speciale was an option package for the California T rather than a separate model. It brought stiffer springs, recalibrated magnetorheological dampers and quicker damping response, along with a modified exhaust for a sharper note under load. The 3.9-litre twin-turbo V8 was unchanged at 560 hp, so the work focused on body control and driver engagement.

STORY

The California debuted in 2008 as Ferrari's first model with a front-mounted V8, a folding metal hardtop and a dual-clutch gearbox. Aimed at a broader, everyday-usable market, it used a 4.3-litre V8 and offered 2+2 seating. It reintroduced the historic California name last used on the 1950s 250 GT California Spyder.
