250 GTO/64 (Series II)

250 GTO · 1964–1964RWD

The 250 GTO/64, or Series II, carried a restyled body for the 1964 season, its lower, wider lines echoing the 250 LM in place of the original's slender 1962 shape. Three cars were built new to this specification and several earlier GTOs were rebodied to match. Beneath the new skin sat the same 3.0-litre Colombo V12 and five-speed gearbox, campaigned in Group 3 GT racing.

STORY

The 250 GTO is one of the most celebrated Ferraris, built to compete in FIA GT racing with a 3.0-litre V12 and aerodynamic Scaglietti body. Only 36 were produced between 1962 and 1964. It won the GT class of the International Championship for GT Manufacturers three years running and is among the most valuable cars in the world.
