360 Challenge Stradale

F131 · 2003–2004RWDCoupe

The 360 Challenge Stradale is a road-legal track special, rear-wheel drive with 425 PS from its 3.6L V8 (F131). Ferrari took out the radio, swapped leather for Alcantara seats and used Plexiglas side windows, so it weighs about 110 kg less than the 360 Modena it is based on. Standard carbon-ceramic brakes also cut 16 kg of unsprung weight.

STORY

Ferrari unveiled the 360 Modena at the Geneva show in March 1999 as the replacement for the F355. Its body sat on an aluminium spaceframe developed with Alcoa, which the SAE paper credits with a large gain in stiffness and a 28 percent cut in weight. The 3.6-litre V8 is listed at 400 PS (395 hp) at 8,500 rpm. Production ran from 1999 to 2004, and the coupe was followed by the Spider, which is a separate body style.
