STORY

The 500X is a compact crossover that Fiat unveiled at the Paris show in October 2014, with the press day on 2 October. It is built at the Melfi plant in southern Italy on the same line as the Jeep Renegade and shares its technical base, including the chassis, engines and gearboxes, with that car. Early-build cars were already coming off the Melfi line in May 2014, ahead of the reveal, and Italian sales were slated for the first quarter of 2015. Production at Melfi ended in 2024, with no direct successor planned.
