STORY

The 850 was a rear-engined small car that Fiat unveiled in May 1964 as a saloon with an 843 cc four-cylinder rated at 34 PS, 37 PS in the Super. The 850 Coupe and the Bertone-built Spider followed in 1965. In 1968 the sporty versions moved to a 903 cc engine with 52 PS. The saloon and Coupe were phased out from 1971, when the 127 arrived, the Spider lasted to 1973 and the Familiare van and minibus continued until 1976. Fiat counts about 2.3 million cars; SEAT also built the 850 under licence in Spain.
