Fiat showed the Coupe at the Bologna show in December 1993, and sales began in January 1994. Chris Bangle drew the exterior at Fiat's Centro Stile after his proposal beat one from Pininfarina, which Peugeot later took up as the 406 Coupe. Pininfarina styled the interior and assembled every car in Turin. The 2.0 16V turbo gave 190 PS, and in 1996 a five-cylinder 2.0 20V turbo arrived with 220 PS. A numbered Limited Edition followed in 1998. Production ended in December 2000 after 72,762 cars.
