STORY
Fiat showed the Doblò at the Paris Motor Show in October 2000, and Tofaş, its Turkish joint venture, dates the start of production at Bursa to 2000. In Brazil the Betim plant began building its own Doblò in late 2001, launched at the end of November 2001 with a 1.3 (80 bhp) or 1.6 (106 bhp) 16-valve petrol engine and a seven-seat passenger layout with two extra seats on each side of the luggage compartment, unlike the European five-seater. In January 2002 Fiat announced that it would double Brazilian output to 2,600 a month. The first-generation van was named International Van of the Year for 2006, a second generation took over in 2010 in most markets, and Brazil kept the first generation until December 2021.
