STORY
Fiat released the first official pictures of the Grande Punto on 28 July 2005, ahead of its public debut at the Frankfurt Motor Show in September 2005. Italdesign-Giugiaro styled it together with Fiat's Centro Stile, and Fiat aimed it at the Volkswagen Polo, placing it between the Stilo and the Punto in size and price. The announced range began with a 1.2 petrol of 65 bhp and a 1.4 of 77 bhp, plus MultiJet diesels up to a 1.9 of 120 or 130 bhp. Left-hand-drive markets came first and the UK followed in early 2006. The Punto Evo, a facelift of the Grande Punto, was shown at Frankfurt in 2009.
