STORY

The Marea was Fiat's mid-size saloon of the late 1990s, presented in autumn 1996 as the successor to the Tempra and, in part, the larger Croma. It shared its platform with the Bravo and Brava hatchbacks, and the Weekend estate was about 4.5 m long with up to 1,550 litres of boot space with the rear seats folded. A Bipower version that ran on petrol or compressed natural gas followed in 1997. In Italy the range opened at 75 CV and was topped by a 182 PS five-cylinder. European production ended in 2002, when the Stilo Multiwagon arrived, but the Marea kept being built in Brazil and Turkey until 2007.
