STORY

The Nuova 500 was presented in July 1957 as the successor to the Topolino and was drawn by Dante Giacosa. It was a rear-engined, rear-drive 2+2 under three metres long, with an air-cooled two-cylinder engine of 479 cc rated at 13 hp, a smaller and cheaper car than the 600. The Nuova version itself, including the Sport, ran only until 1960, when the 500 D with a 499 cc engine took over, and the line then continued as the F, L and R until 1975. The whole line from 1957 to 1975 totalled 3,893,294 cars.
