The Story

Why the Aspire matters

Ford sold the Aspire in North America from early 1994 as the replacement for the Festiva. Kia built it in South Korea, and Kia's own archive lists it as the Avella, exported as the Aspire in the US and as the New Festiva in Japan. The only engine was a 1.3-litre four rated at 63 hp, with a five-speed manual or an automatic, in two-door and four-door hatchbacks. For 1996 the SE two-door was dropped. Ford did not offer the car for 1998, so US sales ran 1994 to 1997.
