The Story

Why the Capri (2024 EV) matters

The Capri name came back on 10 July 2024 on an electric coupe-style crossover built in Ford's Cologne plant on Volkswagen's MEB platform, on the same line as the Explorer EV. Series production began there in autumn 2024, and cars started reaching European dealers in October 2024. Batteries are 52 kWh (Standard Range RWD), 77 kWh (Extended Range RWD) and 79 kWh (Extended Range AWD). The Extended Range RWD makes 286 PS (210 kW) and Ford quotes up to 627 km of range for it, while the AWD is rated at 250 kW. By mid-October Ford said almost 200,000 European customers had configured one online and that 59 percent chose the 286 PS rear-drive powertrain.
