STORY

Ford unveiled the electric F-150 Lightning on 19 May 2021 and named it that day. The 2021 targets were 426 hp with the standard-range battery and 563 hp with the extended-range one, both at 775 lb-ft. When deliveries began in May 2022 Ford had raised the ratings to 452 hp and 580 hp, with torque unchanged. The truck was built at the Rouge Electric Vehicle Center in Dearborn, Michigan. On 15 December 2025 Ford announced that the current-generation Lightning was ending, with a successor planned as a range-extended electric pickup and no launch date given.
