STORY

The F-250 Super Duty went on sale as a 1999 model after Ford split its heavy-duty trucks from the F-150 in March 1998 and began building them in Louisville, Kentucky, among other plants. The 5.4-liter Triton V8 was the base engine, the 6.8-liter V10 was new to the F-Series, and the 7.3-liter Power Stroke diesel was rated at 235 hp and 500 lb-ft. The fourth generation, unveiled in September 2015 for the 2017 model year, switched to an aluminum body that Ford said was up to 350 lb lighter. For 2023 the gasoline line-up got a new 6.8-liter V8 at 405 hp and 445 lb-ft.
