The Australian Fairlane was a different car from the American one of the same name. The ZA of March 1967 was a locally developed, stretched Falcon: the XR Falcon's 2819 mm wheelbase grew to 2946 mm, and it carried US Fairlane rear quarter panels and boot, with 8814 ZAs built. In 1973 the LTD became a Fairlane-based model. Ford Australia announced in May 2007 that Fairlane and LTD production would end because of weak sales, and the last Fairlane was built on 13 December 2007, almost 41 years after the first locally developed Fairlane, the ZA, appeared in March 1967.
Long-wheelbase luxury sedan built by Ford Australia, derived from the Falcon and sold from 1967 to 2007, alongside the even more luxurious LTD. Later BA/BF cars offered the Barra six or Boss V8 with a stretched cabin aimed at chauffeur and executive buyers.
