The Australian Ford Falcon was Ford Australia's homegrown full-size sedan built from 1960 to 2016, evolving from a locally adapted American compact into a distinctly Australian large car. It became a national symbol and the main rival of the Holden Commodore, dominating Bathurst and Australian touring-car racing for decades. Rear-wheel-drive and available with inline-sixes and V8s, it was produced at Broadmeadows in Melbourne. In May 2013 Ford announced that it would stop making vehicles in Australia, and on 7 October 2016 a blue FG X XR6 sedan became the last Falcon and the last Australian-made Ford to leave the line, ending 91 years of local production and 56 years of the Falcon.
Ford's large car, designed and built in Australia from 1960 until 2016. Loved for its rear-drive muscle heritage, the Falcon ran from the famous GT V8s of the 1970s (XA/XB) to the turbocharged Barra straight-six XR6 Turbo and the FPV GT V8 super-sedans of the BA-BF and FG eras.
