STORY

Ford's Cougar was a Mondeo-based coupe for Europe, shown in Britain at Silverstone in July 1998 and on sale in Europe from December 1998. Cars for Europe and Britain were built at Flat Rock, Michigan and finished in Cologne, and North America got a version badged Mercury Cougar. Engines were a 2.0-litre Zetec four at 96 kW (131 PS) and a 2.5-litre Duratec V6 at 125 kW (170 PS). Ford withdrew the Cougar from Britain in February 2001 and from the European market in August 2002.
