STORY

The American Fusion arrived as a 2006 model with a 2.3 L four rated at 160 hp or a 3.0 L V6 rated at 221 hp (US ratings). Ford heavily revised it for 2010, the year the Fusion Hybrid arrived with a 2.5 L four, rated by the EPA at 41 mpg city and 36 mpg highway. The second generation was unveiled at the Detroit show in January 2012 as a 2013 model and came as petrol, hybrid and Energi plug-in hybrid. Its best US sales year was 2014, at 306,860 cars. The last Fusion left the Hermosillo line in Mexico in July 2020, more than two years after Ford said it would drop its sedans, and the Bronco Sport took over the plant.
