STORY

The S-Max went on sale in 2006 as a people carrier, and in November 2006 a jury of 58 journalists from 22 European countries voted it European Car of the Year 2007. Ford built it at Genk in Belgium. In October 2012 Ford proposed closing Genk by the end of 2014, with next-generation S-Max production moving to Valencia, Spain. In October 2022 Ford said S-Max and Galaxy output at Valencia would stop in April 2023, as the company shifted toward electric vehicles.
