STORY
The first-generation Transit Connect reached Europe in 2002, built at a new plant in Kocaeli, Turkey, where production started that summer; it was named International Van of the Year 2003 with a record 126 of 140 points. It reached North America as a 2010 model and was named North American Truck of the Year in January 2010. In May 2010 Azure Dynamics named AM General in Livonia, Michigan to fit its Force Drive to Transit Connect bodies built without powertrains in Turkey, with a stated target of up to 80 miles of range and first vehicles planned for late 2010. The second generation was shown for the US in November 2012 as the 2014 Wagon, with a 2.5-liter four or an optional 1.6-liter EcoBoost and five or seven seats, planned for Valencia, Spain. In March 2023 Ford announced that U.S. and Canadian imports would end after the 2023 model year.
