STORY

The first Ford Transit came off the line at the Langley plant in Berkshire on August 9, 1965. The first-generation van was built from 1965 to 1977, and Europe's one-millionth Transit followed in 1976. In the United States, the Transit replaced the E-Series van: Ford began building it at Kansas City Assembly in the week of April 30, 2014, as a 2015 model, after a $1.1 billion investment. Ford counts more than 13 million Transits built since 1965.
