The GAZ-12 ZIM was built from 1950 to 1960 and followed the GAZ-11-73. Its 3.5-litre six-cylinder engine was a tuned version of the one in the GAZ-51 and GAZ-63 trucks, with higher compression and an aluminium cylinder head.
