2009 – present

The Emgrand is Geely's core compact sedan and one of its most important nameplates, built in several generations since 2009. Current versions ride on the BMA platform with a naturally aspirated 1.5-liter engine aimed at high-volume family transport. Positioned as an affordable, well-equipped mainstream sedan, it is a main model in Geely's domestic and export lineups.

The Story

Why the Emgrand matters

Emgrand began as a brand: the EC7 sedan, called EC718 at first, was rolled out by Geely in July 2009 as the first Emgrand model. Reports dated 23 October 2009 gave a price range of 82,800 to 111,800 yuan and more than 2,500 sales in the first month. The EC7 took four stars at Euro NCAP in late 2011. The fourth generation, on the BMA platform, was unveiled on 30 May 2021 with a naturally aspirated 1.5-litre engine of 114 PS, and sales started in China that August.
