Gleagle GX7 carried the name of one of three sub-brands Geely showed in Shanghai in 2009, alongside Emgrand and Englon. The SUV had spent more than two years on show stands as a concept before its market launch at the Beijing show in April 2012, priced from 92,900 to 129,900 yuan. Only the 1.8-litre engine, 138 hp and 172 N·m, was available at first; 2.0 and 2.4-litre versions were promised for the following months, and a 2.4 was still described as due later in 2012.
