STORY

The Geo brand was introduced by General Motors for the 1989 model year, and the Metro replaced the Chevrolet Sprint in the United States. North American cars were built by CAMI Automotive in Ingersoll, Ontario, the General Motors and Suzuki joint venture. The car was a version of the Suzuki Cultus.

The first generation (1989-1994) was a three-door hatchback. Its engine was the 1.0-litre G10 three-cylinder, and the XFi, sold from 1990, was tuned for economy. The second generation (1995-1997) added a four-door sedan on the Suzuki-developed M platform. The Geo badge ran through the 1997 model year, and the car continued as the Chevrolet Metro.
