The Acadia launched for 2007 as GMC's first crossover. It was built on GM's Lambda platform alongside the Buick Enclave and Chevrolet Traverse, and it replaced the truck-based Envoy and Safari in showrooms. A second generation arrived for 2017 on the shorter C1XX platform, which shrank the vehicle to a midsize footprint. A 2020 facelift added the AT4 off-road trim, a turbocharged 2.0-liter four and a nine-speed automatic. The third generation, launched for 2024, grew substantially larger once more and offered a turbocharged 2.5-liter four as its only engine.
The GMC Acadia is a mid-size crossover SUV introduced for 2007 as GMC's first unibody family vehicle, built to offer three-row seating in a car-based package. Early models used GM's Lambda platform with V6 power. The second generation was smaller and moved to the C1XX architecture with four-cylinder turbo and V6 engine choices. It sits between the compact Terrain and the full-size Yukon in GMC's lineup, with front- or all-wheel drive. Upmarket Denali trims add the luxury touches of the brand's Professional Grade line.
