STORY

The Canyon debuted for 2004 as GMC's midsize pickup, sharing its GMT355 platform with the Chevrolet Colorado and replacing the compact Sonoma. GM briefly withdrew from the segment in 2012 before an all-new second generation arrived for 2015, offering four-cylinder, V6 and Duramax diesel engines. A third generation launched for 2023 moved exclusively to a turbocharged 2.7-liter four-cylinder and adopted more rugged, off-road-focused styling.
