H6

2011 – 2026

The H6 is a compact crossover SUV first shown at the 2011 Shanghai Auto Show as the Great Wall Haval H6 before Haval was spun off as a separate GWM sub-brand in 2013. Offered with front- or four-wheel drive and a range of turbocharged petrol and later hybrid powertrains, it became China's best-selling SUV for years running. Positioned as a spacious, well-equipped family SUV, it grew into GWM's all-time best-selling model with millions sold. Under Great Wall badging it marked the group's decisive move into mainstream SUVs.

The Story

Why the H6 matters

The Haval H6 launched in 2011 as a compact crossover SUV and quickly became China's best-selling SUV, topping the sales charts for years. It was first sold under the Great Wall name, before the Haval sub-brand was spun off in 2013. It offered good value, roomy packaging and turbocharged petrol engines. The H6 became the product that turned Great Wall Motors into a mainstream SUV maker.
