The Story

Why the Cruze matters

The Cruze was Holden's small car from 2009 to 2016. The first generation, the JG, went on sale in Australia on 1 June 2009 with a 1.8-litre petrol engine of 104 kW and an optional 2.0-litre turbodiesel. The JH, shown on 28 February 2011, was built at Elizabeth in South Australia from March 2011. A hatchback joined the sedan in late 2011, and a 1.6-litre turbo replaced the 1.4 turbo in the SRi and SRi-V from April 2013. Production at Elizabeth ended on 7 October 2016. The Astra hatchback and a sedan renamed the Astra Sedan replaced the Cruze.
