STORY

Honda announced the Airwave on 7 April 2005 and put it on sale in Japan on 8 April as a 1.5 L compact wagon. It was built on the centre-tank chassis of the first-generation Fit, with the wheelbase stretched by 100 mm to 2,550 mm, and its signature was the large fixed-glass Sky Roof. A minor change on 9 March 2006 made an immobiliser standard. In the same month the Partner commercial van, sold since March 1996 on Civic and Orthia underpinnings, was moved onto the Airwave body; that Partner (GJ3/GJ4) is a separate van, not a second generation of the Airwave. A facelift was announced on 24 April 2008. Airwave and Partner both ended in August 2010, and the Fit Shuttle arrived in June 2011.
