Civic 1500 CVCC Wagon

1st gen (SB) · 1978–1979FWD

Wagon body on the first-generation Civic, sold in the United States for 1978 and 1979. It combines the 1.5 L CVCC four-cylinder petrol engine with front-wheel drive and a manual gearbox. The extra cargo space behind the rear seat made it the practical choice in the Civic line at the end of the first generation.

STORY

The Honda Civic debuted in 1972 as a fuel-efficient subcompact and was pivotal to Honda's global expansion, notably with its low-emission CVCC engine that met U.S. Clean Air standards without a catalytic converter. It has grown across eleven generations from a subcompact into a compact car offered in hatchback, sedan, and coupe forms, and remains one of the best-selling nameplates in Honda's history.
