This three-door hatchback is the Japanese VTi of the sixth-generation Civic (EK3), built from 1995 to 2000. Its 1.5 L four-cylinder petrol engine, front-wheel drive and manual gearbox make it one of the sportier mainstream grades. The Type R followed later in the generation and sat above it.

STORY

The Honda Civic debuted in 1972 as a fuel-efficient subcompact and was pivotal to Honda's global expansion, notably with its low-emission CVCC engine that met U.S. Clean Air standards without a catalytic converter. It has grown across eleven generations from a subcompact into a compact car offered in hatchback, sedan, and coupe forms, and remains one of the best-selling nameplates in Honda's history.
