A second-generation CR-V sold in international markets from 2001 to 2006, with the 2.0 L four-cylinder petrol engine, an automatic gearbox and all-wheel drive. The generation grew in size and gained a flat load floor with a folding picnic table in the boot. In other markets Honda also offered a larger 2.4 L engine.

The Honda CR-V is a compact crossover SUV introduced in 1995, built on Civic underpinnings and among the vehicles that popularized the car-based compact SUV segment.
