CR-Z CVT (JP)

CR-Z (ZF1/ZF2) · 2010–2016FWD

Japan's CR-Z could also be had with a CVT, pairing the 1.5 L petrol engine with Honda's IMA hybrid system and front-wheel drive. It was sold from 2010 to 2016. The CVT was the relaxed and more economical choice next to the six-speed manual car.

STORY

Honda showed the CR-Z as a concept at the Tokyo Motor Show that ran from October 27 to November 11, 2007, and began selling the production car in Japan on February 26, 2010. It combined a 1.5-liter i-VTEC engine with the Integrated Motor Assist hybrid system, and Honda's release called its 6-speed manual the world's first on a hybrid, a claim the release footnotes as in-house research. Honda said the name stands for Compact Renaissance Zero. In June 2016 Honda announced that production would end that year and offered a Final label special edition at 2.8 million yen in Japan.
